NightReign What was the aim for Night Reign? Night Reign was a framework given to us by Staffordshire University to create a game. The aim of Night Reign was to take what was given to us, enhance the mechanics and make the game our own. How did I do that? The ability to jump up walls made this version of Night Reign fun to play as it added more verticality to a side scroller. Creating environments for the game was a way I could create a narrative for the map. Each room was created around an idea of what I wanted each room to do. I developed the map to help guide the player to use their abilities at a correct time. Blood Fonts were places around the map to give players specific areas to heal their wounds and carry on to the next segments of the level. I didn't want to add health potions that could be used at any time, as it made players think about engagements with NPC's radically, instead of jumping in to die. How long did this take to develop? Night Reign took 1 semester to fully develop with the framework, including documentation.
