How long did the projects take? 2 weeks each!

Quickfire Projects

What was the aim for Quickfire projects? The aim for quickfire projects was to be able to create different working frameworks in a short space of time. Gate Racing and Space Warp were created using the same assets but I wanted to create different ideas for games. Gate Racing is an endless racer, to see how far you can get without running out of fuel. Space Warp was to take a look at Unreal Engine's capabilities of creating large environments, and how to travel between them without setting a new location. Tower Defence was to try something completely different. This wasn't my normal development style, so I felt doing something out of my comfort zone would benefit me in order to create projects that were given to me. These were technical design frameworks that only took a couple of weeks to get where I wanted them to mechanically. Gate racing created the feel for the ship, as I wanted to get off of the ground with this project, making a flying pawn instead of walking, or floating. Space Warp took this a step further. I wanted to create an easy way to warp between levels in Unreal Engine 4, and felt that knowledge of UI could help with this. Tower Defence took designs that I had used in the past, and reworked them into a new genre.
